Champion Coaching International Competition Ringette

Jacqueline Gaudet has excelled at the sport of ringette, competing at a world class level. Growing up in Cambridge, she attended Woodland Park Elementary School, Jacob Hespeler Secondary School, and graduated from McMaster University.

Jacqueline has been a member of the Cambridge Ringette Association for 34 years. As an athlete, she has represented the Cambridge Turbos regionally, provincially, nationally, and internationally.

In 1996, Jacqueline participated in her first Canadian Ringette Championships (CRC), winning gold. She has attended every CRC since. Representing the Cambridge Turbos and/or Team Ontario, she competed in a total of 26 consecutive championships, medalling 23 times:10 gold, 5 silver, 8 bronze.

Named a national All Star 19 times, Jacqueline has amassed an impressive record. She competed in 1999 for Team Ontario at the Canada Winter Games held in Cornerbrook, N.L., going undefeated to win gold. She was named to the All-Star line when she competed in the 2008 World Club Ringette Championships (RWCC), and won gold at the tournament in Sault Ste. Marie, and finished fourth in 2011 in Turku, Finland.

Jacqueline has played in the National Ringette League (NRL) since its inception in 2003. She was Captain of the Cambridge Turbos from 2009 – 2022, and was nominated and won many NRL awards in multiple categories: five-time MVP 2016, 2014, 2013, 2010, and 2007; four-time Forward/Centre of the Year 2015, 2014, 2012, and 2011; three-time Defender of the Year 2007, 2006, and 2005; top scorer 2014; Scoring Champion 2014.

Throughout a long and successful career on the Women’s National Team, Jacqueline played all skating positions (defence, forward, centre), and was named Team Captain for three programs. She became a World Ringette Champion in 2002, winning gold, and is a six-time World Ringette silver medalist.

Jacqueline has also coached in Waterloo Region at the U16 and U19 AA levels for both Waterloo and Cambridge Ringette Associations. In 2017, her U19 team finished second at the Canadian Ringette Championships. She was a member of the U19 Team Canada East bench staff when the team finished second in 2009 and claimed gold in 2012.

Jacqueline Gaudet joins her older sister Jennifer Gaudet (2024) and their father Glen Gaudet (2019) as inductees in the Region of Waterloo’s Hall of Fame. The Gaudet family has played a dynamic role in the local, provincial, national, and international competitive world of ringette, a team sport where individual players have the opportunity to become leaders.
